Jonique Nestaas graduated with a BFA in illustration and an MFA in interior design. These two disciplines helped her to create colorful and highly detailed backgrounds, and to use facial expressions to convey emotion. Some panels of the comics are traditionally painted with watercolor, gouache, and colored pencil.
